The Old Dominion Medical Society is an organization of African-American physicians who practice within the Commonwealth of Virginia. The mission of this organization is to serve as an organized and informed voice for minority physicians and their patients. The ODMS fosters within its membership professional integrity, ethical conduct, and the highest quality of health care delivery. Members of the ODMS serve not only their patient base but also serve minority communities through community education and advocacy.

Goals
Continue minority health advocacy.
  ° The Legislative committee will remain actively involved in local, state and national lobbying for laws and policies that will benefit the African-American Community.
  ° Leadership of ODMS will render opinions on legislative bills and policy prior to final votes and will be certain that the opinion of ODMS membership is heard.
  ° Members of ODMS will serve as local health care advocates in their communities.
Improve communication among the membership of ODMS.
  ° Informational mailings will be sent out at least quarterly.
  ° Update mailing lists with current telephone, fax and e-mail, etc.
  ° Attend meetings of the local chapters.
Increase the membership of ODMS.
  ° The membership committee and local constituent chapters will coordinate a membership drive for new members.
  ° Members will be encouraged to stay financial and active at the local, statewide and national level.
Stabilize and secure a financial future for the ODMS.
  ° Develop and adhere to an annual budget.
  ° Plan for a quality educational and profitable annual meeting.
  ° Plan a major fund-raiser for the scholarship fund.
  ° Investigate and invest our savings into a high yield account.
