Mission

ODMS Goals

  • Continue minority health advocacy.
    • The Legislative committee will remain actively involved in local, state and national lobbying for laws and policies that will benefit the African-American Community.
    • Leadership of ODMS will render opinions on legislative bills and policy prior to final votes and will be certain that the opinion of ODMS membership is heard.
    • Members of ODMS will serve as local health care advocates in their communities.
  • Improve communication among the membership of ODMS.
    • Informational mailings will be sent out at least quarterly.
    • Update mailing lists with current telephone, fax and e-mail, etc.
    • Attend meetings of the local chapters.
  • Increase the membership of ODMS.
    • The membership committee and local constituent chapters will coordinate a
      membership drive for new members.
    • Members will be encouraged to stay financial and active at the
      local, statewide and national level.
    • Stabilize and secure a financial future for the ODMS.
    • Develop and adhere to an annual budget.
    • Plan for a quality educational and profitable annual meeting.
    • Plan a major fund-raiser for the scholarship fund.
    • Investigate and invest our savings into a high yield account.
