The Old Dominion Medical Society was organized in 1905. It is the affiliate chapter of the National Medical Association for the state of Virginia. The NMA is divided into seven regions across the United States. The ODMS is a constituent society of NMA Region II which also includes the state of Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia. The component societies of the Old Dominion Medical Society are the Alexander Medical Society, the Norfolk Medical Society, the Peninsula Medical Society, the Richmond Medical Society and the Northern Virginia Medical Society.
