"Jericho REACH was approved for provisional acceptance. In 2016, I founded an accountable care organization (ACO), Central Virginia Coalition of Healthcare Providers, LLC (CVCHIP). We are principally African American, inner-city providers who proved that underserved communities, especially of color, could successfully own, govern and manage an ACO. We saved Medicare more than $14.8 million and had an average quality score of 92.8%.
On June 30, 2022, CMS announced our provisional approval as Jericho REACH ACO. This model takes us to the next step of full-risk direct contracting. As the acronym represents, we get the opportunity to “realize access and equity in community health” in communities that need it the most. It is anticipated that participating physicians will make an average of 120% FFS of Medicare, at the same time enhancing the benefits to the Medicare A&B beneficiary.
I am writing you as a leader of your organization to get the word out. Time is of the essence as the enrollment period for physicians and other health professionals end on August 4, 2022. All specialties can participate including NP’s, PA’s, LCSW’s, Clinical Nurse Specialist, and Behavioral Health. We are looking to expand our network beyond VA and PA where we presently have providers.
By 2030, all Medicare beneficiaries will be in a value-based arrangement. Physicians of color are familiar with being excluded from networks. Jericho REACH gives us the opportunity to build our own. We are looking to enroll independent medical practices, not exclusively African American but to any that serve our underserved community and have a spirit of excellence and community service. There is no geographic restriction.
The benefits of joining an ACO include collaborative healthcare, improved MIPS quality scores, % increase in FFS reimbursement and shared savings. Jericho REACH will add prospective payment, 5% MACRA bonus, 100% of shared savings*, stop-loss protection and mitigate downside risk. There is NO COST to join Jericho REACH.
